For a while, a lot of AI coding conversations stayed comfortably technical.

Which tool is faster? Which one handles large repos better? Which one writes the cleanest patch? Which one fits the workflow without slowing the team down?

Those questions still matter. But as coding agents move closer to real team workflows, another question keeps getting louder:

Who actually owns the code they write?

That sounds like a legal department problem. It is not only that.

It is becoming a team-policy problem, a procurement problem, and eventually a rollout problem for engineering leaders who want the upside of agentic coding without discovering later that nobody agreed on the rules.

Why this question is heating up now

The simple reason is adoption.
